Small, nutty, a little chocolately, adzuki (also known as red mung beans) beans are a different species than the "common bean" varieties that predominate in our growing region, more closely related to a cowpea or a chickpea than a black turtle or kidney bean. Nonetheless, these little powerhouses grow beautifully here in New York and we are delighted to add them to the lineup! Great subbed for lentil or chickpea in your favorite curry or of course, baked into brownies.
